Soneium Update: STAR Points via Mini-Apps as Soneium Score Ends
What's happening
Soneium is an Ethereum L2 chain built on OP Stack by Sony Block Solutions Labs. Mainnet launched on January 14, 2025. The points program “Soneium Score” ran for 12 seasons but has fully ended as of Season 12 on July 30, 2026. What's currently active is earning “STAR Points” through mini-apps inside the Startale App. On July 30, 2026, five new mini-apps were added: El Hexa, SuperCashMe, Cryptorefills, Squadletics, Space Runner, and Penalty Game. On August 3, 2026, “El Hexa” launched with daily quests to earn STAR Points. There has been no official announcement yet regarding a token or airdrop.
What you should do
- Download the Startale App (@StartaleApp) and create an account via social login (free).
- Play daily quests in mini-apps such as El Hexa, Space Runner, or Penalty Game.
- STAR Points accumulate based on gameplay and quest completion.
- If you scored 80 or above in Soneium Score Season 12, claim your SBT badge on the upcoming mint page.
Downloading the app and logging in are free, but activities within individual mini-apps may incur gas or other fees. No specific time commitment is stated.
Past seasons and distribution history
Soneium Score ran for a total of 12 seasons, accumulating over 720,000 participations across more than 70 projects. Season 12 featured the soccer game “Fantasy Team,” accessible via the Startale App. Participants who scored 80 or above in Season 12 can mint a non-transferable SBT badge (coming soon). Note that Soneium Score itself grants SBTs, not tokens, and there is no officially confirmed record of token distribution or airdrops.
Things to watch out for
- No official announcement has been made regarding a token ticker, TGE timing, or distribution amounts. What Soneium Score grants is a non-transferable SBT, with no guarantee of future tokenization.
- Audit firms and audit dates have not been confirmed.
- Disclosed cumulative funding is roughly $13M-$20M, but it's unclear whether this covers Soneium alone or Startale as a whole.
- Mini-apps such as El Hexa are provided by external projects, not Soneium itself, so guarantees do not extend to Soneium.
- Soneium Score has already ended as of July 30, 2026, so new scores can no longer be earned. If you scored 80 or above, minting the SBT badge is all that's needed.
- Despite backing from a major company like Sony, tokens or airdrops are not guaranteed, and speculative participation is not recommended. It's more reasonable to treat this as trying out the actual mini-app experience.
